On Saturday, 6th June 2026, Japaflex hosted an exciting Cardio Tennis event at Albert Park, Middlesbrough, and what a day it turned out to be.
The session kicked off at 10:00 and ran through to 12:00, bringing together a vibrant mix of participants from across the local community. Despite a weather forecast predicting 100% precipitation, we were fortunate that the rain held off, allowing everyone to enjoy the session without interruption. There was over 60 attendees present, with people all the way from Newcastle and Durham.
One of the highlights of the day was the number of beginners and first-timers who joined us. It was inspiring to see so many people stepping onto the court for the first time, embracing the experience with enthusiasm and energy. We had over 20 racquets available, and had to ration the usage and play rotation.
The event was more than just tennis. It was about movement, connection, and wellbeing. Participants spent the morning burning calories, getting actively involved, and most importantly, socialising and building new connections within the community. The atmosphere was welcoming, inclusive, and full of positive energy, exactly what Japaflex stands for.

Events like this continue to show the power of bringing people together, especially within diaspora and local communities where connection matters most.
As we wrap up a successful Middlesbrough event, we’re already looking ahead.
Next stop: Birmingham.
Let’s keep moving. Let’s keep connecting.
